Slaton track sending Tigerettes to state

The Slaton Tigerettes earned the team championship at the Region I-3A track and field meet Saturday at Abilene Christian University, and will send two relay teams to the state meet in Austin.

The 4X100 team of Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Quanasia McDaniel and Ta’kaja Robinson claimed the top spot in regional with a time of 49.33 seconds.

The same group of runners comprised the 4X200 team of shaved nearly four seconds off their area time, breaking the tape for first place at 1:43.33.

The top two from each of the four regions qualify for state.  UIL also has a wildcard, in which the best 3rd place qualifies to compete in the ninth spot at state.
