Tigers track team finishes third, individuals advancing to Area
The Slaton Tigers competed in the District 2-3A track meet this week and had a strong meet, placing third overall as a team, with some athletes advancing to Area.
Quevon McDaniel took home a district championship in the triple jump.
A team of Eli Martinez, Zephron Ortiz, Ta’shawn Tipton and Kevondrick Gober won both the 4×100 and 4×200-meter relays.
Kevondrick Gober also took home a district championship in the 100-meter dash.
Tipton won first place in the 200-meter dash while Zephron Ortiz placed third in the event.
Chris Radar came in sixth in the 400-meter dash.
Malachi Mendez came in second place in the 110-meter hurdles and places third in the 300-meter hurdles.
In the 3200-meter run Zach Gonzales came in third, Ty Kinch came in fourth and Justin Durrett came in fifth.
Zach Gonzales also earned points for the Tigers in the 1600-meter run, coming in fifth place.
