Girls win 2 medals in relays, boys strong at State track meet
Slaton had an amazing state meet in track, with both the girls and boys placing well in their events.
The girls medaled in both relays. A team of Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Xazari Naylor and Ta’kaja Robinson came in third in the 4×100 meters with a time of 48.54 seconds, the same team came in second in the 4×200 meters with a time of 1 minute and 43.13 seconds.
Robinson also competed in three individual events. Robinson came in fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.15 seconds.
She finished in seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 35 feet and 6.25 inches.
In the long jump Robinson came in ninth, with a jump of 15 feet and 10 inches.
The boys also competed in the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays. A team of Eli Martinez, Zephron Ortiz, Ta’shawn Tipton and Kevondrick Gober came in seventh in the 4×100 with a time of 42.74 seconds, and came in fifth in the 4×200 with a time of 1 minute and 30.14 seconds, narrowly missing out on the medal stand.
