Slaton teams show off skills during scrimmage

The air was full of cheers Saturday as the Tiger football teams conducted scrimmages Saturday (Aug. 10) at Tiger Stadium.

Saturday was the first day that teams could participate in full contact practice under the University Interscholastic League rules. There were two scrimmages.

The Tigers will have another scrimmage Friday (Aug. 16) at home against Abernathy. A second scrimmage against Snyder will be Aug. 22 at home.

The team’s first game of the season will be Aug. 30 at home against Sanford-Fritch at 7:30 p.m.

Other schools in the area are also undergoing scrimmages and practice.

Roosevelt will play in a scrimmage against Sudan at home Aug. 16, then against Tulia Aug. 23 away. Their first game will be in New Deal at 7:30 p.m. in New Deal.

Wilson will have a scrimmage against KPA Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. and Whiteface/KPA/Hart Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. Both scrimmages are in Wilson. Their first game will be against Patton Springs Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Patton Springs.

Southland will have scrimmages against Whiteface at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 in Whiteface and against Lazbuddie at 6 p.m. Aug. 23 at home. The team’s first game will be against O’Donnell Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in O’Donnell.
