Basketball teams play well in busy week

The Slaton Tiger and Tigerette teams competed in several games this past week in preparation for District play coming up.

Girls basketball

The Tigerettes had a busy week finishing up their regular season action.

On Tuesday (Dec. 10), the girls defeated the Post Antelopes 74-25 at home.

Top scorers were Andrea Moreno with 16, Zanady Coronado with 12, Mary Jo Parker with 11 and TK Robinson with eight.

They then won a close game against the Sundown Roughnecks 35-34 Friday (Dec. 13).

Top scorers were Moreno (8), Kamryn Gibbs (6), Parker and Jazmyn Jackson (5 each), and Robinson (4).

The girls played Brownfield in District play Tuesday there. Scores were not available as of press time.

Boys Basketball

The Tigers defeated Roscoe 59-32 Tuesday evening (Dec. 10) at home.

Leading scorers were Quevon McDaniel with 17, Treven Baker with 11, Breaden Gibbs with nine,                 Kevondrick Gober and Camryn Nalley both with six, Hudson Sackett with five, Mario Sanchez with three and Mike Solis with two. 

The team then competed in the Floydada Whirlwind Classic and took third place.

They defeated Ropes 59-31 Thursday evening (Dec. 12).

Leading scorers in that game were Gibbs (18), Sackett (10),  Quevon McDaniel (8), Gober (6), Mario Sanchez (5), and Solis, Camryn Nalley and Ayden Ramirez all scoring four a piece.    

The team then lost to Floydada 71-72 in overtime.

Leading scorers in that game were McDaniel (23), Mike Solis (15), Hudson Sackett (10), Breaden Gibbs (9), Camryn Nalley (8) and A. Ramirez and Gober both with four each.

The team competed against Tulia Tuesday evening (Dec. 17) at home. Scores were not available at press time.
