The Slaton Powerlifting team is sending some heavy lifters to the Regional Meet again this year.

Their goal: to get to the State Powerlifting Meet, where Josh Chavarin competed last year.

Head Coach Jeff Caffey said there were four girls who will be lifting in Regional. They are Alice Cogburn, Soli Cisneros, Amaya Ramos and Mackinzie Boreing, all of whom qualified at a recent meet in Slaton.

The four girls will be lifting at the meet Friday morning (March 6) in Seagraves.

The boys have qualified several to the Regional Meet, which will be conducted March 14 in Sundown.

Caffey said there may be more qualifiers, but as of press time, qualifiers are Toby Crabb, Colton Engle, Landen Simmons, Eddie Betancourt, Josh Chavarin, Chris Rader and TJ Payne.
