Sadler signs to play at Wayland

Taelor Sadler has signed to play basketball for Wayland Baptist University.

She did a virtual signing with her family and friends watching due to the current stay-at-home rules for COVID-19 protection.

Sadler will be graduating from Southcrest Christian School in Lubbock.

She has been a four-year letterman on the Lady Warriors basketball team.

The team has won three consecutive Texas Association of Private and Parochial School (TAPPS) 2A State basketball championships.

“I’m proud of what Taelor has accomplished at Southcrest Christian as a student, teammate and as a person,” said Southcrest Christian Head Coach Clay Stout in a Facebook post honoring the athlete.

“Taelor has lead our basketball team on and off the floor. Taelor led our basketball program to three straight championships.

“Taelor is an amazing person and a true leader. I’m excited to see her career continue at Wayland Baptist. She’ll play for a tremendous coach in Coach Alesha Ellis and the Flying Queens,” Stout added.

In addition to the state championships, Sadler has been named to the first team All State Team and the All Tournament team for the past three years.

She also was twice named to the Texas Basketball Coaches Association and also named to the Hub City All City Team this year.

She also has been named to first team All District all four years of her education.

She is the daughter of John and Nicole Sadler and has three siblings, Natalie, Ava-Grace and KaLeah.

She is the granddaughter of Jim and Paula Sadler and Isabel Carreon all of Slaton.
