Powerlifting teams have strong showing at Slaton Invitational

The Slaton Powerlifting teams competed in a meet at home Thursday afternoon (Feb. 4) in the Slaton Junior High School gym.

In the girl’s meet, Savannah Rubio placed first, lifting 655 pounds total; Sierra Rodriquez placed first with 655 pounds total; Amaya Ramos, first place with 805 pounds total; and Jaclyn Loera, second place 745 pounds total.

In the boys meet, Landen Simmons placed first with 1,065 pounds total; Chris Rader, first place 1,245 pounds total; Jacorien Doss, first place with 1,000 pounds total; Eddie Betancourt, second place with 1,190 pounds total; and Toby Crabb, second place with 945 pounds total.

The athletes compete in divisions based on weight.

The team was supposed to compete against Post in an invitational today (Feb. 11), but it has been canceled.

Their next meet will be Feb. 18 in Ralls.
