Fire from on High to host revival this weekend

Fire from on High Apostolic Church, 655 W. Scurry St. in Slaton, will host Revival services this week at the church. The times are 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 7), 7 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 8) and Sunday (Oct. 9 )  at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Everyone needing healing, deliverance and hope is invited to attend.

Genealogy Society meeting to be conducted Saturday

The South Plains Genealogical Society will meet Saturday (Oct. 8) from 10 a.m.-noon at Mahon Library’s Community Room. The meeting is open to the public. Ray Lozada will be presenting Juan Vasquez Coronado, his 20th great grandfather, the quest for the Seven Cities of Gold and the “Lady in Blue.”

Slaton sees rise in September tax rebates

The City of Slaton saw an increase in its sales tax rebates again in September compared to the previous year’s totals. Slaton received $60,777.67 in September, a 16.32 percent increase from September 2021’s total of $52,247.29.
